ReplyDeleteWe had a mystery like that a couple years ago. One spring day, Joey dog and I smelled something very interesting that was coming from ghostwriter and Dad's room, where we're usually not allowed. But we barked and scratched at the door like crazy until they let us in. As soon as we got in, we went to the closet (which has a trapdoor to the roof) and stood on our hind legs sniffing and baking and whining. Dad opened the trap door, and then he could smell it too. So he took a ladder and climbed up to the roof outside and discovered some starlings had built a huge nest inside the soffit. There were enough sticks and leaves and garbage crammed in there to fill an entire big garbage bag! There were also a couple dead baby starlings stuffed in there, and that's what was making the smell. The humans should always trust us doggies when it comes to hidden mystery smells!
