Poetry Thursday

Once again, Angel Sammys and Teddys Pawetaton have provided us with a photo for Poetry Thursday.

Sam and Carol loved fine art.

As they like to say, with their own heart

Sam proudly brought his wife a ticket

So they could see the latest exhibit

Honestly, they found it quite dull

And they wanted to give the gallery owner an earful

When off to the side, the saw a painting

And that put the end to their complaining

“It is the sun rising over the ocean,” Sam said

Carol responded, “It is a great light welcoming the dead.”

“The used of color is exquisite.”

“Now, this was worth the visit.”

“It is hope reaching over the cold blue sea.”

“It’s like the painter can see inside me.”

“I am going to make an offer.”

“I will empty out our coffer.”

A man entered and walked to the painting

Sam and Carol were excited to see an artist creating

Sam said he would buy the painting for a hundred grand

The artist said selling it was not something he planned

But Sam persisted

And despite how much he resisted

Sam would not be denied

So the artist said with pride

To such a connoisseur he would sell

And as he wrote the check, Sam’s head did swell

Thinking of his jealous friends

Their envy would know no end

As he handed over the check the artist said

“There was one thing to do before the buyer got the go-ahead”

He hung a magnetic strip on his work

Then turned with a smirk

And told Sam he hoped he didn’t mind

But Sam just bought the men’s room sign
