Kolchak and Felix are our May 26, 2013 Pups of the Week

It was way back in 2007.   I was eating my kibble and surfing the Internet.   I read a story about a new online network for (Get this!) dogs.  The writer was outraged but I was intrigued and the next day I signed up for DS.

The writer wondered what type of people would write, or enjoy reading, blogs written by humans from the point of view of their dogs.  The writer didn’t know the answer was the best humans.

I made lots of friends in those early days, and, when I got in trouble and bounced around the Internet, they followed me until we found the Promised Land of the Tanner Brigade where I stayed, and then found my way back to DS.  During my travels I have met over 1,000 dogs and watched many of them take the mocked art of writing a blog from their point of view of their and turn it into something very special.

Nearly six years since I started blogging it seems strange to meet a dog who doesn’t blog.  There is even a Disney show about a dog with a blog, who, if you are familiar with Disney and ABC, should be the first dog contestant on Dancing With the Stars next year.

Now one of these friends has been recognized for doing what was once ridiculed.  Kolchak and Felix were recognized at the latest Dog Blog conference (that is how much the phenomenon has grown, there is now a yearly conference) as having the best Bark to Bark blog

I cannot think of a more worthy winner.  If you have never checked out their wonderful blog I ask you to do so now, we will wait, just click this link.  http://kolchakpuggle.com/  (waiting music plays.)  You’re back?  Great.  See, we told you it was a wonderful blog.

The site is like walking into the world’s greatest pet boutique.  There are incredible treats that even my Mom can make, a place to play (K-9 Kamp), links to the coolest toys on the Internet, advice on the healthiest food, links for dog gear, funny stories and the best dog advice on the Internet.  Also there are lots of great games and prizes.  It the the most fun you can have on the Internet without having to lie about being older than 18.

While, of course, Kolchak and Felix are the creators and inspiration of the blog a lot of the credit must go to their typist, the irreplaceable Aunt Jodi Chick.
Our parents rely on her for so much information, our food, our digestion, our treats, everything to do with our health.  When someone posts a question she is there to answer, to help us, to keep us healthy.  Without her we would be at best lost, at worst not here.  She has given us dogs and our parents the best gift she could by extending our lives.

It was wonderful that one of our own was recognized in such a prestigious way by an independent organization, an even better that it was a truly selfless one who has given so much to our parents and to us.  A tip of the tail from all of us to Kolchak, Felix and their wonderful, giving, caring, smart Mom who we owe a part of our happy life to.

Thank you.

Treat us Right, Treat us Good

I Foley Monster declare that I am fed up over what I am being fed. My Mom and Dad are very good about making sure I get nutritional food at meal time. Right now we are both eating Blue Buffalo easy digestion food. We have no complaints even though Pocket doesn’t always want to eat the little black ones. I, not being as discriminant have no problem cleaning her plate. Mommy says I am going to have to move to senior food at some point but I say I will agree to this when she orders a Senior Pizza.

But it is the treat department that we are being mistreated. Mommy and Daddy have not paid as much attention to our treats as they have to our meals. Until Mommy read something +hat shivered her timbers. We have been eating some Milo Kitchen Treats from the supermarket. They were yummy, Then Mommy found this http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/FDA-Dog-Treat-Warning-Necropsy-Results-on-Bay-Area-Dog-164094206.html Now we never eat Jerky. We do eat jerks so don’t step out of line Mister. But still it scared Mom enough to throw all our treats away and tell us she was never getting anything from Milo’s Kitchen again.

At first I didn’t understand why Mommy was throwing out our treats then I read the story. And I was like “Yo, what’s up Beyotch?  You trying to off us like some prison cook taking out the big mafioso?  Back up butterscotch.” Then Mommy told me it was an honest mistake. While I am not 100 percent sure I believe this I am going to take control of what we eat for treats in our house.

Luckily, when Mommy read the item, we were not treatless. Hannah Banana’s Mom sent us a package of treats the week before. We still had some left. They were so good, better than even the Milo treats. And they are all natural, and nothing in there to harm us. (An added bonus is that it turned part of our poo orange which made it easier to find at night.)  And the closest they have come to China is if out Postman got disorientated again.

So from now on there is going to be nothing but natural homemade treats going into this Yorkie and I trust you to do the same.  The best part is we know many of the people who are making the treats so if they make us sick we can order an immediate poop on you reward for them.

So here are my suggestions to Mommy, and you can present them to your Mommy if you so choose.  First up are the treats we were lucky enough to have when we found out our store bought treats were crap.  They came from Hannah Banana and her lovely Mom.  You can visit their site here:  http://petstore.iloveyourdog.biz/?product_cat=treats  Our favorites are the Savona and Izzy bites:  Chicken and Sweet Potato flavor.  There are great for small dogs like Pocket and me.  They are small and crunchy, good for our teeth.

Then there are the terrific Kerri’s Kookies site. You can buy their Kookies here: http://www.keriskookies.com/#!store They name some of their treats after our DS friends. Her treats are delicious and crunchy and make you feel all warm inside. And they are baked the day they are shipped so they are like they came right out of their Mommy’s oven.

If your Mom is a baker and you want something right out of the oven then check out http://www.kolchakpuggle.com/p/good-food.html. Our good friend Kolchak has dozens of great recipes all healthy for us. And he has provided a number of great links too. And no one knows more about dog nutrition than Kol’s Mom so if you can’t afford to buy the treats over the Internet she can give you great advice on what to buy and more importantly what not to.

The age of the Milkbone is done.  We have access to great treats out there.  We are here on this Earth to ease our parents’ days, to help with their pain, to guide them through illness. The least they can do is treat is right.

And the best way is with great treats.

Playing blog tag with Koli and Feli, and tagging two French Bulldogs

I checked out my good friend Koli’s blog http://www.kolchakpuggle.com/ a few days ago.  Koli said he loves to play tag.  Pocket like to play chasing games.  I like games where I get picked up, snuggled, and give licks.  So I am thinking oh Koly you sucker.

The idea of Koly getting tagged amused me.  And then I got to the end of the blog and found out that Koly tagged me.  Oh boo laa laa.   Then Pocket reminded me that I am considered a senior dog and I said, wait a minute, I think I can tag, I think I can tag, i think I can tag, I think I can tag, I can tag!  Look at me tagging!

After exhausting myself I re-read the blog and found out it was blog tagging.  Wow it was like reading War and Peace then finding out there was a movie.  So I have to answer some questions to qualify to tag someone else.  So here we go.

#1: Describe yourself in 7 words
Beautiful Yorkie Lollipop Queen of all media

#2: What keeps you up at night?
Human farts.  Can we talk?  If you sleep in bed with Mommy and Daddy you know what I mean.   All night long it’s toot toot toot.  It’s like sleeping with the Miami Horns.  And the smell!  Not that I don’t like the smell.  I love the smell.  But you humans you need to understand.  When we’re under the covers and you fart”  First, it wakes us up.  Then comes the smell.  Have you, human, ever walked in a house and smelled delicious cookies baking and knew you couldn’t eat one?  That’s what it’s like when a human toots under a blanket.

#3: Who would you like to be?
Whether I'm right or whether I'm wrong
Whether I find a place in this world or never belong
I gotta be me, I've gotta be me
What else can I be but what I am

#4: What are you wearing right now?
I’m not that type of lollipop perv.  But, for all you Joan Rangers out there, I am wearing my red and black sweater that Smoochy’s Mom bought for me.  And I am best dressed.

#5: What scares you?
Oh the usual.  Dying alone.  Not making the mortgage .  The situation in Syria.  No, I’m just being silly.  There is only one ting that scares me.  That when Mommy and Daddy go out they won’t come back.  Everything else is just momentary problems.  But Mom and Dad are my everything.

#6: The best and worst of blogging?
Well Pocket and I just love the feedback.  A lot.  There is nothing that makes us prouder than hearing that we made you smile.  Sometimes we even take satisfaction that we made you cry, if that was our intent.  If we wanted to make you laugh and your cried. that’s a problem.

The worst part is when we’re trying to think of a blog. Sometimes I just wait for Pocket or Daddy to do something silly.  Doesn’t take too long.  In those rare instances when that doesn’t happen I might have to look up dog news.  But usually Daddy and Pocket don’t let me down.

#7: Last website You Visited?
It was the Tanner Brigade.  We are working on a super secret special project.  We will be announcing it soon.  We also visited Twitter, Facebook and Blogger where we have lots of friends and Google Plus where, I think, they think we are freaks.

#8: What is one thing I would change about myself?
What. are you serious?  Have you seen me?  I have it going on.  Maybe a little less girth but not much.  Or being a better speller.  Maybe a few years younger.  But you know what?  I’m a dog and unlike humans we are very content with who we are

#9: Slankets: yes or no?
We do have sweaters and coats but no slankets.  I like being warm but am not crazy about being hot.  I spend most of the night sleeping above the covers.  Not six feet over the covers, I am not possessed, but lying on top of them.  Mommy has a snuggly.  I like lying on top of it.  If I got a slanket I would lie on top of it.  Is that bad form?

#10: Tell us something about the dogs that tagged you.
Oh what can’t we tell you about Kolchak and Felix.  We go to them for everything.  For advice in food, for blogging advice, for good friendship which they have plenty of.  They are truly an inspiration in this blogging world of ours.  They did all the work to change our blog.  They have helped us promote it.  And they did it for nothing.  (Well, Aunt Jodi stole our couch.)   In our opinion Aunt Jodi, Kolchak and Felix are the best even if they are Canadian.  The day we met them is our gotcha day because it’s a day we met such great friends

Alright folks, YOU'RE IT!
Who to tag?  Who to tag?  I tag:  Benny and Lily, of http://www.twofrenchbulldogs.com/ /  Let’s see what you have your terrifically fun pair.
